Things you think are healthy ...

When a manufacturer/vendor says something is healthy, they're not lying, per se.  However, depending on your dietary needs, sometimes the labeling can be misleading.  We'd love to say everything that says it's healthy or is found in a health food section of a grocery store is safe, but for those with SHTG and other carb limiting lifestyles, we feel the need to call out the following:

1) cereals - some of your "healthy" Special K and others like Rice Chex and Life cereals, have the same carbs as Fruity Pebbles.

2) whole grain/wheat pasta -- it sounds healthy, but OMG the carbs are in the 40s ... one serving is 1/3 of your 130 carb daily limit, and that's without meat, sauce, parmesan, salad dressing, garlic bread, et al.  Not worth starving yourself, eat the edamame pasta.

3) frozen veggies with ancient grains -- I love these personally, but the ancient grains with veggies offered by Birdseye and others can run you up into the 40s per serving as well.

4) health food section foods -- organic, made with sweet potato, anything made with corn (corn is not a veggie, it's a starch and loaded with carbs), don't trust that because it's in a health food section that it's safe ... read the box.

5) whole wheat/multigrain bread - wheat tends to up the carb numbers.  Again, nothing wrong with it nutritionally, but the carbs ... good grief.  Get the sandwich slims if you insist on having a sandwich.
